about
From late 2019 until early 2020, an unimaginable amount of Australia was ravaged by bushfires, resulting in huge losses never before seen in our life time. From the Ashes was penned in February 2020, during this catastrophe, telling the story of many across our nation.
It is Bloom’s privilege to share Maxine and Ron’s story, one of many, who lost their home of over 30 years in Cudlee Creek, South Australia.
It is often through these tragedies that we find ourselves thinking about what truly matters in life, searching for hope and meaning. The impact of this resulted in our great nation and beyond, coming together to offer hope, love and support to those in their time of need.
lyrics
What’s now a memory, was once a home, before the flames
The pictures hanging on the bedroom wall, tell of better days
Though it all happened in a flash, the most important things will last
If we hold onto the things that really matter
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
After the mourning we will learn to live again, hope again
United we stand, divided we fall, hand in hand through it all
We will live again, hope again
We’re on our knees, praying for rain, to come again
Plant the seed, plough the plough
The rain is coming, the rain is coming
Plant the seed, plough the plough
The rain is coming on this great Southern land
If we hold onto the things that really matter
Hold on - hold onto the things that really matter
We’re on our knees, praying for rain, to come again
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust
After the mourning we will learn to live again, hope again
United we stand, divided we fall, hand in hand though it all
We will live again, hope again
